Murali Vijay: Mr. Reliable In Test Cricket For India

India has had some of the best Test openers in the world in the last ten years, and Murali Vijay is one of them. This stylish Indian batsman’s life has been full of ups and downs, drama, and unexpected turns. As of the 2008 Test series, he had only played in one match for India against Australia. After that, though, he didn’t get as many chances because Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag were already known as two of the best specialists. In 2010, he made his first century against Australia in Bangalore. This showed how patient and calm he was. But he wasn’t able to keep up that level of play, and he was eventually taken off the national team bench.

According to domestic cricket news, Vijay went back to playing cricket at home, and as soon as he did, he got a lot of runs. In 2013, he got another chance against Australia to prove himself, and he didn’t waste it. Vijay has shown what he’s made of not only at home but also in international competitions. He was the best batsman for India on its 2014–15 trips to South Africa, New Zealand, England, and Australia. His adventures away from home were successful because of how smooth and efficient he was, how patient he was, and how perfect he was. They remember five of Vijay’s most memorable innings in Test cricket and give him credit for all of his good work over the years.

  • 97 against South Africa, Durban, 2013

In the second Test match against South Africa in Durban, Vijay scored 97 runs off 226 balls, including 18 fours. He did this in a very calm way. Just three runs stood between him and his first Test hundred and two of the best bowlers in the world, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel. The Indian batting order was helped a lot by this inning, and they scored 334 runs in their first turn. As far as I know, this was his first show with 50 or more people outside of Asia. Vijay’s effort gave the Indian Test team, which was in desperate need of an opening batsman at the time, new hope. Even though Jacques Kallis scored 115 and Steyn took 9 wickets, the Indian cricket team lost the game.

  • 167 against Australia, Hyderabad, 2013

In March 2013, when India played Australia in Hyderabad, Vijay got his highest score ever. He got 167 runs off 361 balls by hitting 23 fours and 2 sixes. The Australian bowlers were finally put to the test when India lost their first wicket. Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara put Australia in a tough spot by scoring 370 runs together. Together, they played 110 overs with a lot of concentration and drive. Australia’s declared score was 9/237, and India’s first innings score was 503 runs. India won the game by innings and 135 runs because Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were such great spin bowlers. When you look at his whole career, this inning was important and came at the right time. With this hit under his belt, he quickly became a regular member of the Indian Test squad.

  • 95 against England, 2014 –

India finally beat England for the first time in 28 years when they won the second test at Lord’s in 2014. Most of the credit for that historic test win should go to Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma, but Vijay’s batting in the second innings was very important. In the second innings, he hit well, scoring 95 runs on 247 balls, 11 of which were fours. Virat Kohli, an Indian batsman, got a century without getting out, and Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar each got a half-century to help India get to 319 runs and win the Test against England. Ishant Sharma’s amazing session in England’s second innings, in which he took seven wickets, pretty much ended their chances. In the first innings, the wicket was green, but in the second, he did a good job. Even though he only scored 24 runs, he faced 67 balls, which gave the next batters time to get used to the new ball and field.

  • 146 against England, 2014 –

Murali Vijay scored an impressive 146 runs on the first day of the first Test match between India and England in 2014 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. He faced 361 balls, and 25 of them were fours and one was a six. Even though he didn’t get off to a great start with the bat because James Anderson didn’t give him many chances, Lady Luck was on Vijay’s side that day. After he had been in the middle for a while, he started hitting good balls and put together a good inning from then on. The Indian team did not take advantage of the chance, though, and the test match ended in a tie. Vijay’s hundred was his first and only one in England. After his first game there, he played 13 more Tests, but in none of them did he get a hundred.

  • 144 against Australia, Brisbane, 2015 –

One of the hardest parts of playing in Brisbane is opening the batting against players like Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazelwood on the city’s famously quick and bouncy pitches.

The batsman for Tamil Nadu got 144 runs from 213 balls, 22 of which were fours. Vijay got his first hundred in a test in Australia. The fact that this inning was similar to Sourav Ganguly’s 144 at the same stadium made it much more interesting. Both Indian openers did a good job in the first innings. India got 408 runs before they were bowled out. Vijay’s hard work and Rahane’s half-century helped a lot with this. India couldn’t take the lead a second time, though. The big reason for this was Steven Smith’s 133-run hit in the first inning. India was knocked out for 224 in their second innings. Australia had a hard time during the chase because of India’s bowlers, but they still lost the Test.
